Things - Jeff Rutzky and the Potential of the Craft ROBO

Things - Jeff Rutzky and the Potential of the Craft ROBO from Bre Pettis on Vimeo.

Jeff Rutzky is the master of the Craft ROBO. It's a wonderful and inexpensive cutting plotter. Jeff took some time to break on down and share his passion for making flat things into physical objects.

Make sure to check out Jeff's flickr stream to see more of the amazing objects that he creates!

Here's an iphone sized video file and a sweet hd video file and by now you should be subscribed to iTunes, right?

That thing is so very tempting! It's no Epilog Helix 45, but on the other hand I could actually afford one. And I *do* have a birthday coming up on Friday, if you felt like getting me one...

I've been looking into buying one of these and I am totally sold. I'll need to save my pennies, but this would be perfect to recreate my designs.

    I'm totally sold.

That is so cool, I used to work in the sign trade, and cutter plotters are the most fun thing ever, does anyone know if this can be made to run under Linux?

I bought a CraftROBO about two weeks ago. I went from cutting paper for 3d models, to cutting vinyl for stickers. Making physical things is so awesome, and with the CraftRobo, you can go from thought to software to hardware in about ten minutes. It's got me thinking about new things, like maybe starting a sign company. I feel very powerful! It was the best $300 I spent this year.

Thanks for the video! It's great to see what someone skilled can do with this thing.

    Keep the videos coming!
