This is a photo I photographed, developed, and printed in 2003 with a medium format camera that I made. It used a lens that wasn’t made for negatives this large so the edges of the photo get sorta whooshed out. My mother Claudia had a herd of small sheep and this is a photo of a sheep named Bear essentially running right at me.

I enjoyed the darkroom side of photography but my body started to react to chemicals with little bumps on my left pointy finger whenever I was around them so I was happy when digital cameras showed up.

This is right before I really returned to computing. I put off having a cell phone for a long time. I think of this time in my life as being in “The cult of beautiful objects” and my art at the time was really focused on making physical things like ceramics, paintings, drawings and printing and framing photos. Once I joined Flickr in 2004 I feel like I pivoted to the cult of sharing digital work.
