Plotter Portraits 2021
In fall of 2019 my friend Martin Bauer visited. I had assembled a lot of HP plotter from the 1980s and we spent a week making them work, including building out a strategy for using modern gel pens in the old machines. I built out a workflow to take 3D scans of my friends and family and turn them into portraits by importing them into a Blender, positioning the models and lighting them, using Freestyle plugin to create outlines and creases and then using different colors to represent different levels of decimation. I'm still very pleased with the outcome and enjoy these portraits. The pandemic was in the background of these works since I was working from home because we were scared to be around people.
