I Love You Project 2005

In 2004 I visited New York City and was inspired by video art that I saw at a gallery. I came home inspired to make video art. I had a vision for this project where I would make my friends and family say “I love you” over and over with their eyes closed while I filmed them. It got good fast. To do this I had saved up to shoot this on both video and super8 film. I liked the video better because the high end would blow out which is how I saw it in my head. I really love this piece. When none of the galleries in Seattle would represent me, I committed to publishing anyway and pushed this to the internet, first in 2004 on a video art website and then on the internet archive in 2005. Because of this project, I had the equipment, and I went on to make lots more videos, first for my students, then for the world.
