Thingiverse 2008

Thingiverse began in 2008 at NYCResistor with a weekend challenge to make a thing-sharing site. At the time there were music and video sharing site and we wanted a place for things. Zach Smith had worked at Vimeo so he whipped up the site. For the first year or so, most of the objects on Thingiverse were by our friends. When MakerBot took off, Thingiverse was a key component. Adam Mayer joined us and we included Thingiverse in the MakerBot company we formed in January of 2009

Running a company that grew from 3 people to about 600 people meant I didn’t make a lot of art during this time, but what I did make is published on my Thingiverse profile.
